Daily Bread

all collected the great reaper tampered your thoughts

a wide and open lattice from which
to capture the space between spaces - 

year after year and day by day by noon
you repeated the unholy determination that you 
had uncovered the Will of God
but merely,
tantalized by the other who spins your fate like an anagram,
the dice in every hand,
convincing you that you knew his plan when 
merely,

you know not the difference between a ripple and a lake
or the man in the mirror

in fact,

it was clearly written that none would know the hour nor the day
but that these things will come to pass
and so
bewitched were you over and over again
to love not
thy Neighbor?

a kitchen is the hearth of the home
why they wonder
one needs daily sustenance
maybe to learn
to starve the ghost.
